OUR JOURNEY This Group is under the auspice of the Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre Inc to give insurance cover and allow for development of the group – guidance is given by Outback Arts via RICDO Karin Thurston. The group is multicultural having 5 nationalities and 65% aboriginal participants. Karin confers regularly with Aunty June and Uncle Roy as to the development of the group.
The above picture shows all hard at work- we use a room at the CDEP complex – artists are encouraged to paint from their hearts – Only aboriginal descendants can paint in traditional styles or tell dreamtime stories. However we all work harmoniously - learning from and supporting each other. Everyone is accepted. We also do cooking for lunch as part of the day’s experience. Artists.
