“Colours of the Ridge”
June 6 – June 13, 2014
An Exhibition by Paul Bird and Ann Golledge
Lightning Ridge artists Paul Bird and Ann Golledge are excited about their upcoming combined Exhibition ‘Colours of the Ridge’. This inspirational exhibition will be officially opened on Friday 6th June at The Ridge ArtSpace, by Stephen Wilson, the Principal of Balmain Art School, Sydney. Stephen is a highly qualified teacher of art practice, and holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of NSW, College of Fine Arts.
Paul Bird’s work lives and breathes the diversity of all that the Ridge offers in the vibrancy of opal colours and sunsets, to capturing the story of mining adventures and lifestyles on the opal fields in a light hearted narrative approach and reflects his admiration and affection for Lightning Ridge. An artist for over 30 years, Paul’s work reflects softness in an otherwise harsh environment.
Ann Golledge has established herself in Lightning Ridge as a professional artist. Her first exhibition coincided with the official opening of The Ridge ArtSpace in 2009. She has had successful exhibitions locally as well being invited to exhibit at Sydney Parliament House 2010, which promoted Indigenous and non- Indigenous artists from regional NSW. She has also exhibited her ‘Play of Colour’ collection of artworks at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, 2011. Her painting technique and approach to her work reveals a loose, colourful, unfettered style that reflects the freedom of lifestyle and unique environment of black opal country that has sparked her imagination.
Exhibition is open daily from 9am-4pm.
